A dehumidifier is a household appliance that removes moisture from the air using a set of cool and warm coils. As the moist air moves over the cool coil, the water vapor is condensed into water and collects into a drain hose or chamber. The dry air then passes over the warm coil before blowing back into the room as warm, dry air. Use your dehumidifier to maintain an indoor humidity level between 35% and 50% and avoid musty smells, condensation, and mold growth.

When choosing the size and type of dehumidifier, consider the size of your space, the level of humidity, and how often you can empty the unit’s water storage tank. Consider a large dehumidifier connected to a drain hose for very large humid spaces that are not visited often. These units are a bit more expensive to install, but they do not require manual attendance. Dehumidifiers with high-quality air filters will improve your indoor air beyond just removing moisture. Look for ENERGY STAR-certified models to use up to 15% less energy.

A dehumidifier helps you maintain healthy indoor humidity levels between 35% and 50% and avoid musty smells, condensation, and mold growth.

Dehumidifiers can remove 10 to 120 pints of water from the air.
