Cork Insulation
Cork insulation comes in semi rigid sheets. They are made by super-heating cork granules with steam, allowing the cork to naturally bind with itself.
Cork insulation comes in varying thicknesses and with a variety of installation options. You can choose from 1” to 12” thicknesses, depending on your project and climate zone. With options over 3” thick, you can get panels finished with shiplap joins to minimize air and moisture transfer.
Cork is a renewable resource that comes from the bark of the Quercus Suber oak tree. The trees can each be harvested up to twenty times in their approximately 200-year lives.
Suberin, a naturally occurring, waxy, impermeable substance found in cork, is the only binder needed to make cork insulation sheets. So, cork insulation is made with just cork and water - no chemicals are needed.
Cork is anti-fungal, anti-microbial and hypoallergenic. Add to that - it has excellent sound dampening properties!
